Physiotherapy
What to expect from your PHYSIOTHERAPY session
Physiotherapy sessions take place in the comfort and privacy of your own home, making it easier to receive treatment in a familiar environment and, where appropriate, relate your rehabilitation to the activities you do every day.
An hour-long session begins with a discussion about your problem, including your symptoms, how they are affecting you and what you would like to achieve from physiotherapy. This is followed by a thorough physical assessment to understand your movement, strength, mobility and any factors that may be contributing to your symptoms.
Following the assessment, Sarah will explain her findings and work with you to agree an appropriate treatment and rehabilitation plan. Treatment is tailored to your individual needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.
Depending on your condition and goals, treatment may include:

Exercise therapy
Individually prescribed rehabilitation exercises to improve strength, mobility, balance, movement and function. You will be shown how to perform your exercises correctly and given guidance on how to progress them.
Massage / Manual therapy
Hands-on techniques designed to help improve movement, reduce pain and support recovery where appropriate, includes techniques like massage, joint mobilisation and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Massage (IASTM) .
Electro therapy
The use of appropriate electrotherapy techniques as part of your treatment where they may be beneficial.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture may be incorporated into treatment when appropriate and following discussion with you.
Advice & Education
Helping you understand your symptoms, what may be contributing to them and what you can do between appointments to support your recovery.
Is Physiotherapy right for me?
The treatment approach will always be discussed with you, and your preferences, concerns and goals will be taken into account. The aim is not simply to treat your symptoms during the appointment, but to give you the knowledge, exercises and practical strategies you need to continue making progress between sessions.
