Why ‘Choose Chartered’?

Physiotherapy is a science-based profession and takes a ‘whole person’ approach to health and wellbeing, which includes the patient’s general lifestyle.

At the core is the patient’s involvement in their own care, through education, awareness, empowerment and participation in their treatment.

You can benefit from physiotherapy at any time in your life. Physiotherapy helps with back pain or sudden injury, managing long-term medical condition such as asthma, and in preparing for childbirth or a sporting event.

All Chartered Physiotherapists abide by the standards for fitness to practise set by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) * and the Code of Professional Values & Behaviour set by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). This ensures they adhere to the highest standards of health and safety, record keeping, professionalism, competency and all maintain full public and professional malpractice indemnity.

The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy (ACPAT) is a Professional Network of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).

Animals, like people, respond to physiotherapy. The purpose of physiotherapy is to restore and maintain mobility, function, independence and performance.

ACPAT members are fully qualified Chartered Physiotherapists (MCSPs) who have further trained in physiotherapy and rehabilitation for animals.

Chartered Physiotherapists have all trained in human physiotherapy before upgrading to work with animals. The considerable experience gained in the human field develops skills which are largely transferable to animal physiotherapy. Their experience and specialities are diverse and therefore treatment programmes can be highly specialised.
