injectable therapies
I am thrilled to add joint and soft tissue injections to my physiotherapy toolbox.
I offer injection therapy for suitable patients following an individual assessment. Treatment options include corticosteroid and hyaluronic acid injections, where clinically appropriate.
As an experienced MSK physiotherapist I am well-placed to advise on what injections are suitable and when.
A full clinical assessment is required to help me understand your needs, and full disclosure of your medical history (including your medications) is required so we can decide on the best and safest course of action.
Corticosteroid injections
These are a prescription-only medication so require a short phone assessment with my prescribing colleague. This will be arranged on a case-by-case basis and the cost of this is included in the cost of the injection.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) injections
These are classed as medical devices and do not require a prescription.

What is Hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a bio-polymer which naturally occurs in the human body, primarily in joint fluid and connective tissues. It is an important component of joint fluid, providing lubrication, improved fluid movement, shock absorption and improving flexibility.
As such it improves joint health, reduces pain, aids recovery and supports rehabilitation.
What is Ostenil®?
Ostenil® is a treatment for Osteoarthritis and can be used in any synovial joint in the body. It contains Sodium Hyaluronate and is injected into the affected joint(s). It helps restore the normal balance between breakdown of the joint fluid, known as “viscosupplementation”.
As a result it often reduces pain and stiffness that osteoarthritis can cause.
The sodium hyaluronate in Ostenil® is not cross-linked meaning it is a pure solution, and therefore the risk of allergic reaction is minimised.
